Here in Igiugig we’ve been recycling for several years now. We even have all the lodges do recycling too while they are here during the summer time. We do recycling through out the year, it keeps all the IGAP employees busy.

It’s not only keeping our landfill cleaner, it’s also keeping our village cleaner too. We separate all tin cans, plastics, glass, and aluminum cans from one and other. If you need a bin for your recycling come to the hanger and ask one of the IGAP workers for extra ones and we’ll give you one. Once we separate all the tin cans from the plastic we put them in different color bags. We have the plastic in yellow bags and the aluminum cans in green bags, and then we send them out on the mail plane. We have the tin cans in black bags and then we take them to the dump and have them buried. When we do glass we have them in a bin and we crush them with our glass crusher. If you would like to know more about recycling come to Igiugig and find out, so you can go home and talk to your community into doing recycling.
